Your First Visit
What to Expect
Feel free to bring a friend or family member along to help ask questions or help you remember the techniques you will learn for a home program.
If you can remember, please drink a large glass of water before coming to your appointment. We accept many different insurance plans and bill for reimbursement. Please call ahead to make sure that we accept your specific insurance. Co-pays will be paid before each treatment and some deductibles will also need to be paid prior to your treatment. While we will check for insurance authorization, please check on your insurance benefits relative to physical therapy prior to your initial visit.
Expect each visit to last 45 minutes. You will provide a complete history and receive a head to toe exam. Many times there are pain areas throughout the body contributing to the main area of pain. This can be why lasting pain relief is not achieved as other approaches fail to find these areas. After your full body exam, you will receive either PRRT to release these areas of pain or an Associative Awareness Technique (AAT) introduction. You will be given very easy home techniques to perform frequently (at first ) to help maintain the improvement.
After your visit, I will answer any questions you may have in relation to your treatment.
Follow-through visits will also be 45 minutes and will focus on improving the relief that was achieved upon the first visit. Most PRRT clients come for 2-4 visits initially. At this point your pain relief should be significant and frequent visits may no longer be needed. AAT clients will need approximately 6 hours of treatment to attain lasting results and then follow up visits to maintain the results. We offer 1,3,6,9 month follow-through visits to help prevent the return of the pain and maintain the improvement you have attained.
*Also remember, we are trying to recondition your body to be able to function without pain or very little pain. While our approach can offer great relief, we will also need your dedication to this process. Working together, we can achieve the pain relief you deserve.
